INEC Declines To Present Witnesses At Enugu Governorship Election Petition Tribunal

The tribunal, which convened in Enugu, heard the allegations made by the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Chijioke Edeoga, claiming that Mbah’s election win was manipulated.

However, INEC’s legal team, led by Humphrey Okoli, informed the court that the commission had decided not to present any witnesses after a thorough review of the case.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), also slated to present witnesses, did not object to INEC’s decision.
Counsel for the PDP and Governor Peter Mbah, Benjamin Nwosu, expressed the party’s determination to produce witnesses to defend the outcome of the disputed governorship poll.
Nwosu requested an extension of time to bring their witnesses, indicating that they would call up to nine witnesses to support their case.
Chijioke Edeoga’s legal team, led by Adegboyega Awomolo, did not oppose the application for an adjournment.
