President Tinubu Pledges To Boost Nigeria’s Energy Sector With 1350MW GIPP Project
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing Nigeria’s energy and power sector, fulfilling his campaign promise of increasing power generation beyond the current 12,000MW.

He emphasized that the GIPP project would effectively address challenges in the power value chain and eliminate distribution bottlenecks, aligning with his campaign manifesto.
The GIPP project is a joint venture between NNPC Ltd., China Machinery and Engineering Corporation (CMEC), and General Electric (GE), aimed at providing reliable electricity, bolstering Nigeria’s energy sector, and fostering economic growth.
The project, located on a 54.7-hectare land in Gwagwalada, Abuja, is strategically positioned along the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline corridor, which is nearing completion at 70%.
