Akpabio shared that the child had died from bleeding caused by a blocked drip, and despite being in distress, there was no medical assistance available.

The lack of doctors and nurses led to a critical situation where the child lost over 60 percent of their blood and was found struggling on the floor seeking help.

Desperate attempts to revive the child, including using a defibrillator, proved futile, and Akpabio’s personal physician struggled in vain to save the young life.

The defibrillator was revealed to have been dysfunctional for eight years, contributing to the tragic outcome.

The Senate President’s emotional account sheds light on the urgent need for improvements in the healthcare system to prevent similar cases of medical neglect and ensure the safety and well-being of patients in federal government hospitals.
