While inaugurating the newly constructed 8 Division headquarters, the COAS affirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to addressing the ongoing security threats prevalent across the nation.

He conveyed the Army’s dedication to executing the directives issued by President Bola Tinubu to effectively counter the various security challenges confronting the nation.

Revealing that the 8 Division had previously been stationed in Monguno, Borno State, Lt-Gen Lagbaja clarified that the decision to relocate it to Sokoto was driven by the need to establish security apparatus closer to the region due to emerging security concerns in the area.

With the formal opening of the newly erected 8 Division headquarters, the COAS highlighted that the soldiers and officers now have an improved working environment.

He expressed gratitude to the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Farouk Yahaya (rtd), for funding the construction of the facility.

Lt-Gen Lagbaja encouraged responsible maintenance of the building while assuring that other necessary facilities would be provided in due time.

In his expression of appreciation, Maj Gen Godwin Mutkut, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, conveyed gratitude to the COAS for his presence at the commissioning, despite his demanding schedule.

Maj Gen Mutkut, who also serves as the commander of the Joint Task Force, “Operation Hadarin Daji,” highlighted that the transition of the division to its permanent site would enhance the operational effectiveness of soldiers and officers assigned to the division.
