House Of Representatives Summons Officials For Investigation Into Non-remittance Of National Housing Fund

The House of Representatives has issued summonses to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Folashade Yemi-Esan, and the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein.
This action comes as a response to the need for an inquiry into the non-remittance of the National Housing Fund (NHF) and its utilization since 2011. Dachung Bagos further revealed that the Committee has scheduled Wednesday, August 23, to initiate its investigative hearing on the matter. During this hearing, the committee will scrutinize the non-remittance of the NHF as well as the allocation of its funds.
The committee’s inauguration will be officiated by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and the investigative work will promptly commence thereafter.
In addition to Yemi-Esan and Madein, the Committee has extended invitations to several other entities for the hearing.
These include the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), the Auditor-General of the Federation, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), the acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the Surveyor-General of the Federation.
Dachung Bagos emphasized the importance of cooperation and information sharing. He urged the relevant institutions and government officials to provide the committee’s secretariat with memorandums and pertinent documents to aid the investigation.
