Bianca Ojukwu, widow of the late Igbo leader Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has intensified her plea for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

AVID serves as a congregation of American citizens, both men and women with Igbo heritage, who have served or are currently serving in various branches of the United States military.

Ojukwu expressed concern over the initial indifference displayed by Igbo leaders towards Kanu’s unlawful detention and rendition, which she believes has contributed significantly to escalating tensions within the South East region.

She lamented that this negligence has inadvertently allowed opportunistic criminals, unrelated to the IPOB, to exploit the situation, presenting themselves as freedom fighters while perpetrating serious crimes in the region.

She emphasized that healing and recovery for Igboland can only begin when its leaders confront their supposed silence, acknowledge the historical marginalization of Ndigbo, and take responsibility for the emergence of figures like Nnamdi Kanu.

This, according to Ojukwu, is the essential step toward addressing the deep-seated issues currently affecting Igboland.
