The arrested individual has been identified as Wasiu Adebanji, aged 28, from Malatori Area, Ogijo, Ogun State. His accomplices are Opeyemi Olatoye and John Awoniyi, who managed to flee the scene armed with a short cutlass.

The timely action of a patrol team led by the Divisional Crime Officer prevented a potential mob attack and facilitated Adebanji’s arrest. He was found in possession of a concealed short cutlass.

During the investigation, two suspected stolen BAJAJ motorcycles were recovered from the residence of the arrested suspect. The police are currently conducting further inquiries to locate and apprehend the other members of the syndicate who managed to escape.

The Commissioner of Police for the state, Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, praised the swift response of the Volunteer Neighborhood Watch and the prompt intervention of the police patrol team.

He encouraged the public to maintain vigilance and promptly report any unusual activities to the authorities to enhance the safety of the community.

Upon completion of the investigations, the suspects will face appropriate legal charges for their alleged involvement in motorcycle snatching activities that date back to March 2023.
