Despite this, Ekiti State has secured only one ministerial slot, prompting the BAT Vanguard to voice its concerns.
BAT Vanguard outlines a set of criteria it believes should be considered when appointing a minister. These criteria include political, regional, and ethnic balance, as well as the contributions of potential appointees to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s election campaigns and overall success.
Olatunya, speaking on behalf of the group, explains that the BAT Vanguard went beyond mere verbal support for the “Renewed Hope” Mandate, engaging actively in campaign activities across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas, both within the country and in the diaspora. This was in strong support of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential aspiration.
Olatunya highlights Sola Olofin’s prominent role within the APC, stating that Olofin is a dedicated party member, a strong advocate for Tinubu’s vision, and the national convener of the BAT Vanguard. Olofin’s involvement in the Presidential Campaign Council, as well as his membership in Contact and Mobilization (South West) in the Presidential Campaign Council, showcases his unwavering commitment.
Furthermore, the group emphasizes Olofin’s credentials as an ICT techpreneur with a thriving business. Despite twice contesting for the Federal House of Representatives from Ado Ekiti, he withdrew at the request of party leaders due to his loyalty and commitment.
His grassroots political involvement and connection with the youth make him a suitable candidate for the role of Minister of Youths Affairs, according to the group’s assessment.
