Former Kano State PRP Governorship Candidate, Tanko-Yakasai, To Rejoin APC On Invitation Ganduje

Ganduje's Ex-Aide Dumps PRP, Set To Return To APC

Salihu Tanko-Yakasai, previously a governorship contender under the banner of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Kano State, has announced his intention to depart from the party and make a return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a recent statement shared on Wednesday, Tanko-Yakasai revealed that his former mentor and the incumbent APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, personally extended an invitation to him to rejoin the APC fold. During his tenure as an aide to Ganduje when the latter was the governor of Kano, Tanko-Yakasai occupied a media role. He affirmed that he has embraced the offer to return to the ruling party and has formally disassociated himself from the PRP.

Tanko-Yakasai conveyed, “His Excellency Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (OFR), the National Chairman of the APC, has extended an invitation to me to rejoin the APC and contribute to enhancing the party’s success at all levels, an offer that I have enthusiastically accepted.”

He continued, “I have officially withdrawn my membership from the PRP and will be reinstating my affiliation with the APC.”

Following his critical remarks, Tanko-Yakasai was apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS), though he was later released. Subsequently, he shifted his allegiance from the APC to the PRP, positioning himself to vie for the Kano governorship in the upcoming 2023 general election.
