This counsel comes two weeks after armed bandits abducted approximately eight NYSC members on a highway in Zamfara State.
Shinkafi shared his perspective during an appearance on the Sunrise Daily program on Channels Television. He called upon the NYSC leadership to reconsider their placement decisions in light of the security challenges in these states.
Furthermore, Shinkafi criticized Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal for allegedly refusing to engage in peace dialogues with repentant bandits.
He contrasted this with the approach taken by the former Governor of the State, Bello Matawalle, who engaged in dialogues with terrorists, which Shinkafi believed had been advantageous.
Shinkafi explained, “In situations like this, we used to reach out to these reformed bandits, and they would collaborate with security agencies to either rescue or recover abducted individuals without paying ransoms.
However, under this administration, many people have been killed and kidnapped. Over 2,000 people have suffered from these incidents. There is no safe place in any of Zamfara’s 14 local governments.”
