Former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Prof. Soludo, stated, “In politics, you don’t receive what you believe you deserve but rather what you negotiate for with the power of your votes.
He acknowledged that the southeast contributed substantially to the overall vote tally and noted that while they may not have strong grounds to demand “juicy” portfolios, President Tinubu generously appointed one of the region’s finest engineers who pioneered concrete pavement as the standard for road construction.
Prof. Soludo emphasized the federal nature of Nigeria and the importance of collaboration between states and the federal government for effective governance.
He praised Minister Umahi for being well-suited for his role and encouraged him to continue displaying strong leadership.
Regarding the state of road infrastructure, Governor Soludo brought attention to the dire condition of all federal roads in Anambra State, highlighting the urgent need for federal government intervention.
He remarked, “The federal government is headquartered in Abuja and is attempting to award road contracts nationwide.
To be candid, all federal roads in our state have deteriorated, and we are currently expending substantial resources, up to N20 billion, on federal road maintenance.”
