Governor Adeleke had a scheduled flight from Lagos to Abuja aboard his elder brother, Dr. Deji Adeleke’s private jet. However, the flight was abruptly canceled after the pilot discovered an engine fault just a minute into the taxiing process.
Contrary to initial reports suggesting that the engine exploded after taxiing, Rasheed disclosed that a loud noise was heard right after the aircraft began taxiing on the tarmac.
He also expressed skepticism about the explanation provided by the hangar owners, who claimed that a bird’s nest within the engine caused the issue. Rasheed argued that there were strong reasons to believe that both engines of the aircraft had been tampered with.
Rasheed pointed out that the aircraft was highly technically equipped and well-maintained, with a top-notch technical crew. It was not an unused platform where birds could construct nests.
He stated, “Contrary to the claim by the hangar owner that bird’s nests caused the incident, bird’s nests are made with straws, not binding wires as in this case.”
The potentially catastrophic incident was averted shortly after boarding and less than two minutes after the aircraft began taxiing on the tarmac.
An early warning noise from the engines prompted the pilots to swiftly evacuate the passengers. The entire sequence of events transpired within just five minutes.
Initial findings from an internal investigation suggest possible sabotage, but both local and international authorities are currently probing the incident.
Rasheed reassured the public that Governor Adeleke and his aides are unharmed, emphasizing that there were no injuries or outward explosions on the plane.
He conveyed the Governor’s gratitude to well-wishers and supporters who had been inquiring about his well-being, confirming that Governor Adeleke is in good health.
