In a Friday post on X, Adejobi revealed that he was present at the procession’s venue on Thursday and observed that many attendees appeared unaware of the event’s purpose.
Adejobi stated, “Mohbad: A procession is distinct from a protest. This was not just any procession; it was a candlelight procession held to pay tribute to the deceased. I was taken aback when I witnessed the conduct of some individuals who participated in the Lagos procession yesterday.”
He further described the observed behavior as reckless, unruly, and unacceptable, citing instances of smoking, heavy drinking, and reckless driving by some attendees before they eventually moved to occupy and block the Lekki Tollgate.
Adejobi expressed sadness over the lack of sobriety, understanding of the event’s purpose, and decorum displayed by many participants. He emphasized the importance of caution and maturity when pursuing demands or causes.
He raised questions about the true intentions behind the gathering, asking whether it was genuinely seeking justice for Mohbad or if certain individuals were attempting to provoke chaos.
Adejobi called for objectivity in the pursuit of any cause and reiterated the police’s commitment to conducting thorough investigations into the alleged murder case. He urged patience and support from the public in this endeavor.
The candlelight procession, held in Lekki, Lagos State, saw the participation of music stars like Davido, Falz, Zlatan Ibile, and others.
