Represented by the Minister of State for Steel Development, Alhaji Uba Ahmadu, the Vice President expressed gratitude for the warm reception, highlighting the enduring partnership between Nigeria and China that has spanned over five decades.
He stated, “Since 1971, when our diplomatic gateway swung open, Nigeria and China have forged an inspiring relationship. China’s enduring support has significantly contributed to Nigeria’s advancement across various facets of national development, encompassing technology, infrastructure, science, steel production, marine affairs, and the blue economy, among others.”
Shettima underscored the alignment between the two countries, emphasizing their strategic positioning within their respective continents, political and economic influence, and substantial population strength.
This alignment, he noted, fosters mutually beneficial opportunities for cultural exchange, understanding, and cooperation between the two nations.
The Vice President also recognized the Chinese community in Nigeria for their critical role in laying the foundation for continued strategic cooperation and expressed anticipation for deepening ties in the years ahead.
Shettima concluded by highlighting the importance of collective national pride as a pathway to order and development, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to address the challenges and opportunities facing both nations.
