Dr. Eriyo expressed her gratitude for the appointment and underlined her commitment to performing her duties properly, emphasising that she is the ideal fit for this crucial post. “I humbly accept this honour and pledge my unwavering loyalty to our esteemed national woman leader,” she said. Together, we shall empower women and build our great party, the APC, for a brighter future.”

Further, Dr. Eriyo stated, “Dr. Mary Alile-Idele, the APC national woman leader, deserves commendation for her visionary leadership and tireless dedication to the party’s ideals, particularly in advancing women’s empowerment. Her unique approach, characterized by openness and vision, is transforming the party’s terrain.

She deserves praise for her forward-thinking leadership. She has introduced an important and noble initiative within the APC that has never been done before. This initiative aims to empower women and support groups, and it’s a significant step towards making the party more inclusive and forward-looking. Dr. Alile-Idele’s dedication to boosting women’s roles in the party is truly commendable and will likely lead to positive changes in the APC’s future.”

Dr. Eriyo took this opportunity to extend an invitation to all women support groups and NGOs affiliated with the party to officially register with the APC if they have not already done so. She highlighted the significance of this directorate created under the office of the national woman leader, acknowledging that it will play a vital role in enhancing the party’s fortunes.

Dr. Philomina Abieyuwa Eriyo, the newly appointed Special Adviser on Women Support Groups and NGOs to the APC National Woman Leader, has a rich background in charity work and political support groups.

Her journey began in 2000 in the UK, where she focused on sickle cell initiatives and collaborated with renowned clinics and MP Harriet Harmand. In 2015, she transformed her “Echoes of Hope Sicklecell Project” into the “Eriyo Echoes of Initiative – EHI,” dedicated to supporting families in poverty. Notably, in 2020, she founded the “Inter-religious Women in Politics 4 APC,” one of the largest women support groups, registered as an NGO, with a presence in 33 states.

Dr. Eriyo has a remarkable history of involvement in support groups, both in England and Nigeria, and has held numerous significant positions within the APC, including Vice President of Buhari Youth Org, South-south director for Skill Acquisition – Women 4 Buhari & Osinbajo, and South-south Coordinator for Buhari & Osinbajo 4 continuity 2019.

During the recent government election, she led the Asiwaju Tinubu – Shuttima Coalition For Good Governance as the South-south coordinator of over 140 support groups, demonstrating her dedication to grassroots mobilization and the advancement of women in politics through her organization, “Inter-religious Women in Politics 4 APC – IWP.
