challenging the triumph of Ahmed Aliyu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Sokoto Governor in the March 18 election.

Umar had brought the petition before the tribunal to challenge Aliyu’s win. Despite Umar’s claims of electoral fraud and the alleged disqualification of Aliyu’s Deputy, Idris Gobir, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Aliyu the winner of the election.

However, the tribunal, led by Justice Haruna Mshelia, has dismissed the petition and upheld Aliyu’s victory.
