In an ambitious commitment to infrastructural development, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has pledged to complete five major projects within the capital city of Abuja in the forthcoming eight months. CONTINUE READING
The commitment was made public as Minister Wike embarked on an inspection tour of the identified projects. These projects include the rehabilitation of the Federal Secretariat complex, completion of roads B6, B12 and the Circle Road in the central area of Abuja, the comprehensive development of arterial road N20 connecting the Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX), and the extension and refurbishment of the Outer Southern Expressway stretching from Villa Roundabout to the OSEX/Ring Road 1 junction, which will feature four major interchanges.
Additionally, the construction of the Southern Parkway, extending from the Christian Centre (S8/9) to Ring Road 1, has been slated for timely completion.
Accompanying the minister on this inspection was Mr. Olusade Adesola, the Permanent Secretary, and the Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Umar Gambo Jibrin, along with a retinue of senior officials from the ministry. CONTINUE READING
Minister Wike, while addressing the media, stated, “Our aim isn’t just to complete these projects on time but to ensure that they stand as symbols of our government’s dedication to elevating the living standards of our citizens. Abuja is not just the nation’s capital; it’s a symbol of our national pride. We intend to make it a beacon of development.”
Echoing the minister’s sentiments, Mr. Olusade Adesola stressed on the ministry’s unwavering commitment to quality and appealed to the contractors to respect the set timelines without compromising on the standards of their work.
Local residents, on hearing the minister’s pledge, have shown a blend of optimism and anticipation. Many believe that the successful completion of these projects will not only beautify the city but also significantly alleviate traffic congestions in several key junctions.
