The court’s decision was based on his previous double inauguration as the state’s governor, which posed a constitutional violation if he were to contest and win.
Despite this setback, the APC remained determined to proceed with the campaign. The APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed that the court’s ruling would not hinder their campaign plans.
However, on Friday evening, the party’s national spokesperson, Felix Morka, announced the postponement of the Bayelsa state governorship campaign.
The statement indicated that a new date for the campaign kickoff in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, would be communicated at a later time.
