Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary of the electoral body, confirmed during an interview on Channels TV that there would be no glitches this time.
He stated, “We have been using the IReV for all governorship elections, but it was the first time we deployed it for the general election setting in 2023.
We had a glitch for a few hours, which we resolved. I can assure you that this time around, we won’t encounter any issues.”
Oyekanmi emphasized that technical problems have been addressed, and the recent successful mock accreditation tested the technology gadgets for the upcoming elections.
While acknowledging the possibility of technology downtime, he pointed out that lessons have been learned from the 2023 general elections. Oyekanmi clarified that INEC uses the IRev portal for uploading, not transmitting, election results.
