Shuaibu alleged that Kalu had undermined the APC during the last presidential election, using religion and tribal sentiment as a guise, which ultimately diminished the party’s vote tally.

The group’s coordinator also accused the deputy speaker of working against the Minister of State for Labour and Productivity, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

Shuaibu stated that the progress made by Onyejeocha should not concern the deputy speaker, even though she did not secure re-election to the lower legislative chamber.

As a result, Shuaibu urged the national leadership of the party to reprimand Kalu before he causes irreparable damage to the party in Abia state.

In response to the allegation, Kalu dismissed it as a baseless accusation and a deliberate ploy to create discord between himself and Onyejeocha.

The Deputy Speaker issued a statement through his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, on Tuesday, stating that he was preoccupied with his official assignments and not involved in any campaign to defame Onyejeocha.

Kalu clarified that there was no political conflict between himself and Onyejeocha, emphasizing that he regards her as a partner in government.

He asserted that he had consistently sought support for Onyejeocha and called on Abia APC leaders to unite behind her, even before she assumed her ministerial role.

Kalu called on the minister to openly address any grievances she might have regarding his legal battle that culminated in victory at the Court of Appeal. This victory confirmed his electoral mandate after a challenging legal contest brought by other parties.

He expressed his determination not to yield to any form of suppression, intimidation, or distraction from his responsibilities, whether overt or covert. Kalu questioned why Onyejeocha had not distanced herself from the press conference, raising concerns about her actions and intentions.
