In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dede Uzor, the Executive Director of the organization, emphasized that Obiano should be held accountable for his eight-year tenure in office as he seemingly failed to undertake any impactful initiatives for the people of the state.
Uzor contended that Obiano’s legacy consisted of extravagant projects such as airports, stadiums, and other seemingly unproductive ventures that were used as conduits to drain the state’s resources.
Obiano responded to these allegations through his spokesperson, Emeka Ozumba, and rejected the claims made by the organization. He maintained that he had faithfully served Anambra and wished to live a quiet life without further disruption.
The former governor’s spokesperson stressed that Obiano had completed his term in office and had left his own unique imprint on the state. Ozumba highlighted that it was up to posterity to assess his performance.
Ozumba further remarked that if anyone had concrete evidence against Obiano, they should present it. He also underscored that the former governor possessed the legal right to defend himself.
He also noted, “I would like to know whether their allegations of ‘mismanagement’ are related to the fact that the former governor established legacy projects that were previously absent in Anambra, such as the international cargo airport in Umueri and the International Convention Centre capable of hosting international events, which could generate revenue for the state.”
