The Court rejected Okereke’s appeal against the prior decision by the Enugu State National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal.

In a judgment delivered on Monday, the Court ruled that the appeal contesting the tribunal’s decision, which declared Anayo Onwuegbu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the legitimate winner of the election, lacked merit.

The tribunal had previously removed Okereke, confirming Onwuegbu as the duly elected candidate in the February 25 election.

Onwuegbu had approached the tribunal, contesting the declaration of Okereke, asserting that Okereke was not a valid candidate in the election as his name was not on the result sheet as the Labour Party’s candidate.
