The agent persistently contested the election results from the state’s local government areas, claiming discrepancies between the results presented at the collation center and those uploaded on the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
Despite his objections and intention to submit a petition to INEC, Ihejiagwa was silenced by the Returning Officer, Prof Abayomi Fashina, who asserted that receiving petitions was beyond his scope.
Amidst demands for collation suspension for reconciliation, Ihejiagwa was attacked and forcibly removed from the collation center by fellow party agents around 5 am, while the collation process continued.
Recall that off-cycle governorship elections occurred concurrently in Imo, Kogi, and Bayelsa State on Saturday, November 11, 2023, with collation of results from the other states adjourned to Sunday morning.
