Once again, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the hiatus in the ongoing collation of results, shifting the break from 4 pm to 7 pm.
Gabriel Longpet, the Resident Electoral Commissioner overseeing Kogi State, explained that the extension was necessary due to the unavailability of results for the remaining three Local Government Areas.
Among the three pending areas, only Igalamela-Odolu had its results ready, while the outcomes for Lokoja local government and Ibaji were still awaited.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is currently maintaining a substantial lead in the results declared by INEC for the 18 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Kogi State.
Usman Ododo, the APC’s gubernatorial candidate, has secured victories in 11 LGAs, while his Social Democratic Party (SDP) counterpart, Muri Ajaka, has triumphed in six. Leke Abejide of the Africa Democratic Party (ADC) has claimed victory in one LGA.
