Amuma Support Group, in collaboration with all political parties, has initiated a campaign for political engagement in Inyi, Oji River Local Government Area, Enugu state, in preparation for the upcoming elections.

Despite previous attempts, a significant number of Nigerians have chosen to distance themselves from political involvement, expressing skepticism about the electoral process.

In a statement released by the convener, Hon. Ogoo Ihemezue, the group has announced the commencement of a political summit titled “War Against Political Apathy.

Ihemezue highlighted political apathy as a major hindrance to development and emphasized the importance of active participation in the political process.

He stated, “We cannot sit on the fence and complain about the outcome of the process. We also do not have the moral right to demand stewardship from our elected representatives if we refuse to be part of the process.

This is why we have decided to organize this program ahead of future elections to awaken the political consciousness of our people.”

Ihemezue emphasized that fostering political awareness would not only encourage unity among political parties, stakeholders, and the public but also contribute to peace in the community. The inaugural event is scheduled for December 2nd, 2023, at the Customary Court in Inyi.

He urged all citizens to actively participate in the political process by fulfilling their civic responsibilities, reinforcing the importance of continued faith in the system.
