This decision comes in the wake of protests in Yenagoa, the state capital, where demonstrators called for CP Alausa’s redeployment, alleging his bias in the lead-up to the recent election.

According to a reliable police source, CP Alausa was accused of orchestrating a stakeholder meeting in collaboration with a political party and attempting to persuade the IGP to attend, marking one of the reasons for his transfer.

Additionally, he faced criticism for authorizing the use of tear gas against protesting women before the election.

In the wake of these developments, CP Alonyenu Francis Idu has been appointed as the new Commissioner of Police to oversee the Bayelsa State Police command.

A statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the official assumption of duty by CP Alonyenu Francis Idu.

The statement highlighted CP Idu’s extensive experience in various police operations, including those related to insurgency, banditry, counter-terrorism, fraud, and money laundering.

The statement also conveyed CP Idu’s commitment to collaboration with the people of Bayelsa state, assuring them that the Police Command, under his leadership, will prioritize the protection of lives and property, ensure public safety, and uphold social harmony.
