Brandishing various placards bearing messages like “INEC should uphold impartiality,” “INEC, justice delayed is justice denied,” and “INEC, release CTC; INEC should be independent,” they vocalized their dissatisfaction with the commission through anti-INEC chants.

The state party chairman, Barrister Calistus Ihejiagwa, led the impassioned LP members to the INEC state headquarters, where they accused the commission of attempting to obstruct their efforts to contest the results of the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

Ihejiagwa asserted that the results declared by INEC did not align with the figures from the polling units. Seated in a wheelchair, he alleged collusion between INEC officials, security agents, and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to compromise the election.

However, INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Logistics, Mrs. Emmanuelle Opara, stated that the commission had acknowledged the party’s application for the certified true copy of the polls, emphasizing the party’s right to make such a request.
