Over 30 residents are feared dead, with several others sustaining injuries as a result of the airstrikes on Sunday night. The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) had initially denied any air operations in Kaduna State within the last 24 hours, asserting that multiple organizations operate combat armed drones in the North-western region.
The Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, Samuel Aruwan, issued a statement on Monday, revealing that the Nigerian Army admitted to the unintended attack during a meeting presided over by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe. Major VU Okoro, the General Officer Commanding One Division Nigerian Army, explained that the army was on a routine mission against terrorists but inadvertently affected members of the community.
This shocking revelation has stirred concerns about the precision and accountability of military operations, sparking a call for a thorough investigation into the incident and demanding accountability for the loss of civilian lives.
