In an inauguration ceremony for Mandate Secretaries of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration, Mr. Nyesom Wike, the FCT Minister, underscored the administration’s commitment to prioritizing the development of satellite towns. Held in Abuja on Tuesday, the event saw the induction of key officials, including Mr. Bitrus Garki, Mr. Lawan Geidam, Mr. Danlami Ihayyo, Adedolapo Fasawe, Mr. Salman Dako, Mr. Chinedum Elechi, and Mr. Uboku Nyah, who were appointed as Secretaries for various secretariats.

Wike emphasized the importance of extending prosperity and well-being beyond the city center, emphasizing the need for progress and development in all areas of the FCT. He charged the Mandate Secretaries with the responsibility of addressing issues affecting service delivery, particularly in the procurement process. Transparency, efficiency, and accountability were highlighted as crucial principles for the administration’s success.
Addressing the pivotal role of the Mandate Secretaries, Wike urged them to translate the administration’s vision into tangible actions that shape the future of the FCT. The President’s entrusted task involves rebuilding and developing the FCT into a world-class city. Wike stressed the significance of addressing key areas essential for the city’s progress and residents’ well-being.
Part of the mission includes enhancing Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) through innovative fundraising approaches to support the ambitious development agenda. The minister highlighted public transportation as a major challenge that must be comprehensively addressed. Recognizing the indispensable role of a reliable and comprehensive public transportation system, Wike emphasized its importance for the effective and efficient functioning of a modern city.
