Ame Tunkara, Morounranti Adefila, Danny Ohen, and Bridget Aideyan were all found guilty and sentenced at Wolverhampton Crown Court. The family noticed signs of abuse, including bruising and increased nervousness, leading them to set up the camera in February 2020. The footage revealed shocking mistreatment, including rough handling, pillow hits, and a lack of dignity.

Upon reporting the abuse to the care home, three staff members were immediately dismissed, and three agency staff were suspended. Two additional suspects were identified after a thorough review of the footage. Out of eight care assistants charged, four were found not guilty after trial.

Tunkara and Adefila were sentenced to four months in prison on December 8, while Ohen and Aideyan received sentences of six months and four months, respectively, on November 14. The victim sadly passed away in October, underscoring the gravity of the ill-treatment she endured in the final years of her life.

Det Con Kathryn Sargent expressed, “This elderly woman sadly died in October and should not have spent any of her remaining years suffering such ill-treatment.” The incident has sparked outrage, highlighting the need for stringent measures to prevent elder abuse and protect vulnerable individuals in care facilities.
