Despite both individuals belonging to the same political party, noticeable divergences, particularly in economic ideology, have emerged between the administrations of Tinubu and Buhari.

Tinubu, a former Governor of Lagos State, leans more towards a liberal economic stance, in stark contrast to Buhari, a former military leader known for his protectionist inclinations. In 2013, the two leaders joined forces to create a unified front against the then-President, Goodluck Jonathan.

During the eight-year tenure of Buhari, Tinubu maintained a relatively subdued stance on government policies, only vocalizing his dissent when a particular policy seemed directed at him during the elections.

Notably, Tinubu publicly disagreed with the previous administration’s approach to the implementation of the Naira redesigning policy. Since assuming office, President Tinubu has persistently rolled back some of the initiatives initiated by former President Buhari.
