In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, it was revealed that the Special Presidential Panel is tasked with conducting a comprehensive review and audit of the existing financial frameworks and policy guidelines of the social investment programmes. The goal is to implement a total re-engineering of the financial architecture of the programmes, incorporating detailed modifications to the procedures guiding their implementation moving forward.

The panel comprises ministers representing strategic sectors, ensuring a multi-disciplinary approach to the reform effort. Members include the Coordinating Minister of the Economy and Minister of Finance (Chairman), the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, and the Minister of State for Youth.

President Tinubu envisions that the Special Presidential Panel will restore lost public confidence in these vital programmes over the years. The panel aims to usher in a new era of operation based on open and accountable governance frameworks, designed to be impervious to abuse and incompetence. The ultimate goal is to benefit disadvantaged households across the nation.
