Firefighters and rescue officials from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) promptly responded to the scene. The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) spokesperson, Carol Adekotujo, confirmed the incident, stating that it was a private plane from Abuja that landed safely but overshot the runway with no reported casualties.

Ali-Keffi alleged a connection to terror financiers, expressing concern over the suspicious circumstances surrounding the crash. He claimed that Attahiru had devised strategies to combat terrorism, including infiltrating terror groups, creating crises among terror leaders, and targeting terror financiers.

The former GOC highlighted several unusual aspects of Attahiru’s trip, such as a sudden change in the travel time, the switch of aircraft, the alteration of the landing airport from a military airstrip to Kaduna International Airport, and the landing in turbulent weather. Ali-Keffi also pointed to an ear-shattering explosion before the crash. The crash claimed the lives of Attahiru, 11 senior military officers, and the crew members.
