Emmanuel TV, the channel used to broadcast the religious activities of the church, has been taken down from YouTube. This move comes after a controversial documentary by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) investigated TB Joshua, who passed away on June 5, 2021. The documentary, which featured interviews with approximately 30 alleged former members and workers of the Synagogue, triggered widespread online discussions with varying opinions from netizens.
YouTube, in response to the violation of its policies, stated that the flagged channel was terminated due to a breach of their hate speech policies. The platform has strict guidelines against cyberbullying and harassment, explicitly prohibiting harassment directed at survivors of sexual violence.
In a related development, Emmanuel TV has also announced its withdrawal from MultiChoice platforms, including DStv and GOtv. The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), has reportedly pulled out its TV channel from other pay-TV services as well. MultiChoice confirmed the departure, indicating that as of January 17, 2024, Emmanuel TV will no longer be available on DStv and GOtv packages.
Emmanuel TV, established by TB Joshua in 2006, has played a significant role in broadcasting the church’s religious activities. The removal from YouTube and withdrawal from pay-TV services mark notable developments amid the controversies surrounding the late founder and the ongoing investigations into the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
