The demonstration, dubbed the ‘Osun Peaceful Solidarity Walk’, unfolded alongside Freedom Park in Osogbo, as protesters voiced their distress over the escalating cost of living, particularly impacting the impoverished masses.
Addressing reporters, the protest’s convener, Comrade Owolabi Hassan Oluwatobi, underscored the profound suffering endured by Nigerians amid the country’s ongoing economic challenges.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Civil Society Coalition in Osun State, Comrade Waheed Lawal, urged President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the economic distress gripping the nation.
Expressing discontent with the status quo, Lawal emphasized the need for immediate action to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens. He cautioned that failure to provide relief could spark larger protests, signaling dissatisfaction with the current administration’s handling of economic affairs.
In a passionate appeal, Lawal emphasized the fundamental duty of the government to safeguard the well-being and security of its citizens, highlighting the escalating insecurity and rampant abduction of monarchs as critical concerns that demand urgent attention and resolution.
