Tinubu emphasized that this request aligns with the stipulations outlined in section 6(1a) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Establishment Act of 2007, specifically referencing section 10(1)(2).
In presenting the nominees, the President identified the following individuals for confirmation as CBN board directors: Robert Agbide, Ado Wanga, Murtala Sagaley, Urom Eke, and Olayinka Aliyu.
Following the reading of the letter, Senate President Akpabio directed the matter to the Committee on Banking, Finance, and other Financial Institutions for comprehensive legislative consideration. The committee has been allotted a one-week timeframe to review and act upon the President’s request.
