President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended invitations to African leaders for the upcoming Africa Counter-Terrorism Summit scheduled to take place in Abuja in April, as revealed by Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Information and Strategy, in a tweet on his X account.

Tinubu issued the invitations during his address at the AU Summit in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia, last Saturday. The summit aims to broaden the scope of discussions beyond conventional military and law enforcement approaches to addressing terrorism.

Onanuga highlighted that the primary focus of the summit is to comprehensively address the underlying causes of violent extremism. This includes delving into issues such as poverty, inadequate political access, and the dissemination of harmful ideologies. The goal is to foster a more holistic approach to counter-terrorism efforts in Africa.
