Abdullahi emphasized the necessity for businesses to provide clear and honest pricing information, empowering consumers to make well-informed decisions. He urged businesses to refrain from engaging in misleading pricing practices, emphasizing the importance of fair and transparent approaches for the sake of consumer protection and fostering a healthy market environment.

Acknowledging the likelihood of similar practices in other FMCG outlets across the country, Abdullahi called on such establishments to immediately cease such practices to avoid potential consequences. He underscored the Commission’s commitment to combating exploitative or deceptive practices that compromise consumer rights, citing the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Act (FCCPA), which outlines penalties, including fines for organizations and imprisonment for directors.

The statement further emphasized the FCCPC’s dedication to upholding consumer rights and preventing deceptive business practices. In a recent action, the Commission sealed Sahad Stores in Abuja on Friday due to misleading pricing and exorbitant prices.
