According to Abubakar Chafe, the spokesperson for the NCS Sokoto Command, the trucks were apprehended along the Gwadabawa-Illela road. Chafe revealed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday that the interception was prompted by the substantial quantity of farm produce being transported by the trucks.
At present, the seized trucks are under the custody of the NCS Sokoto Command, and an investigation has been initiated to identify the owners and intended destinations of the intercepted food items.
The operation was conducted by a collaborative team comprising members of the NCS Sokoto Command, officers from the Federal Operation Unit, and the Intelligent Unit of the Service. Chafe emphasized that the operation was crucial given the current inflationary trends in the prices of food items within the country.
