With cement costs on the rise, Musa, who chairs the Allwell Engineering Construction Company, argues that asphalt presents a more viable alternative for road building.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Musa emphasized the practicality of asphalt over cement, particularly in light of the recent price hikes. He expressed concerns that further reliance on cement for road construction could exacerbate the demand for the product, leading to even higher prices and adversely affecting the average citizen’s livelihood.

Musa highlighted the significance of cement in the daily lives of Nigerians and underscored their heightened sensitivity to its price fluctuations. In contrast, he pointed out that asphalt, although less integral to daily life, offers a more stable and cost-effective solution for road construction.

Drawing on past practices, Musa emphasized the established track record of asphalt in road projects and its ability to maintain a balance between supply and demand. He urged stakeholders in the construction industry to consider the long-term benefits of asphalt adoption, especially amidst the current challenges posed by soaring cement prices.

As debates continue on the most suitable materials for road construction, Musa’s advocacy for asphalt underscores the need for innovative solutions to mitigate the impact of rising costs on essential infrastructure projects.
