In a resounding victory that resonated across Edo State, Olumide Osaigbovo Akpata emerged as the flagbearer for the Labour Party in the upcoming gubernatorial election. With 316 votes, Akpata secured the Labour Party ticket in an exercise held in Benin City, the bustling capital of Edo State.

The declaration of Akpata’s triumph was met with jubilation as the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Ikechukwu Emeta, officially pronounced him as the winner. Emeta, serving as the chief returning officer for the election, confirmed Akpata’s victory, affirming his position as the gubernatorial candidate for the Labour Party in the Edo State governorship election slated for 2024.

Amidst the celebratory atmosphere, Akpata took a moment to pay homage to the late former governor of Ondo State and NBA president, Rotimi Akeredolu, whose burial coincided with Akpata’s victory announcement. Expressing gratitude to his supporters and party members for their unwavering backing, Akpata pledged to prioritize the welfare and progress of Edo State if elected governor.
