In the recently concluded APC governorship primary election, the party successfully elected a distinguished candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo from Esan Central local government area, to represent the party in the upcoming September 2024 election. The leaders from Edo South are pleased to have supported Sen. Okpevbolo, viewing his victory as not just a political outcome but as one divinely ordained, aligning with principles of equity, fairness, and good neighborliness.
In a collective plea to their esteemed counterparts in Edo South and North, the leaders passionately appeal to embrace Sen. Monday Okpebholo as a cherished member of the extended family. They highlight his embodiment of humility, godliness, respect, and responsibility, expressing confidence that he will make an exceptional governor.
The leaders stress that this moment goes beyond political affiliations and regional interests. It marks the beginning of a new era—an “Edo agenda”—dedicated to the benefit and upliftment of all Edo people. Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s leadership is viewed as a beacon of hope, a unifying force that binds the people together in the pursuit of a better Edo.
As they move forward, the leaders call for unity, echoing the words of Gen. Yakubu Gowon at the end of the Nigerian Civil War, “No victor, no vanquished.” They emphasize that this victory is a collective opportunity for positive change in Esan land, Afemai land, and throughout Edo.
