The Kano State Police Command has successfully apprehended Ismail Rabiu, a suspect who had been on the run in connection with the kidnapping and brutal murder of 14-year-old Abdullahi Sani.

According to reports, the victim was abducted and killed by individuals living in the same neighborhood as his father in the Hotoron Fulani Quarters area of the state.

The primary suspect, Ismail Adamu, provided information that he and the fleeing suspect conspired to kidnap the victim. They transported him to Sabuwar Zara village, where he was fatally stabbed in the neck and thrown into a soakaway pit at an unfinished building. Following the crime, they contacted the victim’s father, demanding a ransom of N4 million.

On February 28, 2024, the spokesperson for the police command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, issued a statement confirming the arrest of Ismail Rabiu. The statement expressed satisfaction with the progress in the investigation and described Rabiu as a key individual involved in the reprehensible crime.

The statement highlighted that the prime suspect, Ismail Adamu, had already been apprehended on February 12, 2024. During the investigation, Adamu identified Ismail Rabiu as his accomplice. Both suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and will face charges in court once the investigation is complete.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized the commitment of the command to safeguarding the lives and property of Kano State residents. He assured that such criminal activities would not be tolerated, and justice would prevail through due legal processes.
