A former gubernatorial candidate of the Justice Must Prevail Party (JMPP) in Abia State, Charles Okechukwu Okereke, has urged former Head of State, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, to promptly issue an apology to the Igbo nation and Nigerians at large for his recent remarks at the Aso Rock Villa.

According to Okereke, such an apology is necessary to soothe the sentiments of individuals who, as per his observation, were displeased by Gowon’s statement. The former Head of State had been quoted recently stating, “I know and if I can remember, when I was fighting the war, I was told I was too slow and probably Nigeria cannot make it and that we should seek discussion.
