In response to the sad news, former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, expressed his condolences through an official post on his X handle on Sunday. Obi emphasized that Mr Ibu’s passing is not only a significant loss to the entertainment industry but also a mournful event for the entire nation. He described Mr Ibu as a legendary comic actor who brought laughter, joy, and happiness to audiences.

Peter Obi extended his sympathies to the bereaved family of Mr Ibu, the Actors Guild of Nigeria, and the wider Nollywood community, which had recently suffered the loss of two legendary actors within a short span. In his post, Obi acknowledged the role of artists in lightening the nation’s mood and helping people navigate the challenges of life.

He shared, “His death is a huge loss, not just to the entertainment industry, but to the nation. Those artists who lighten the mood of the nation also perform a great task of helping us all to weather the dark storms of life.” Obi concluded his message with a prayer for the eternal rest of Mr Ibu and strength for his grieving family and the entire Nollywood community.
