Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has recently designated Bayo Ojeyinka, originally from Osun state, as a Permanent Secretary in the state civil service, marking a significant move hailed by civil servants in the region. The appointment, recognized for its basis in merit, has garnered widespread praise, with many deeming it well-deserved.
As reported by Business Day, Ojeyinka’s association with the Anambra state public service dates back to 1995, initiated after he successfully completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assignment within the state. Notably, his outstanding performance during the service year earned him the distinction of being the best-serving corps member, leading to his retention by the state government.
Expressing his gratitude for the promotion, Ojeyinka conveyed appreciation to Governor Soludo while pledging a commitment to heightened productivity, transparency, and fairness in his official duties. In his statement, Ojeyinka stated, “I am so excited to be considered. I don’t see this as a right but rather a rare privilege because so many brilliant officers also merited the promotion.”
Acknowledging the honor bestowed upon him, Ojeyinka extended his thanks to Governor Soludo and the people of Anambra for their continuous support throughout his 29 years of residence in the state. He also expressed a sense of duty towards repaying the state through increased efficiency and a commitment to transparency and fairness in his role.
Closing his remarks, Ojeyinka acknowledged the support of his colleagues and specifically commended the Head of Service, Barrister Mrs. Theodora Igwegbe, for her exceptional assistance. He concluded with a promise to meet the high expectations placed upon him in his new role.
