An apprentice motor boy, working alongside a trailer driver, has been hospitalized after a mishap in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, March 16, when a tanker loaded with petrol veered off course and toppled while navigating the Takie roundabout in Ogbomoso.
The apprentice suffered severe leg injuries due to the accident and has been rushed to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Teaching Hospital for medical attention.
Confirming the incident, an unnamed official from the Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency (ORTMA) stated, “One of the motor boys sustained serious leg injuries in the accident and has been transported to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.”
In response to the situation, ORTMA swiftly deployed personnel to nearby junctions to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of onlookers, preempting potential hazards such as fire outbreaks or further accidents.
