Tragedy struck on the Jakande-Lekki-Epe Expressway in Lagos as a motorist, Seun Sahola, aged 33, lost his life while protesting against another motorist who allegedly struck and damaged his vehicle.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated that the Ilasan Police Division received reports on Monday around 2:30 pm regarding a fatal hit-and-run accident along the expressway involving a Lexus car with an unidentified registration number.
According to Hundeyin, reports indicated that the deceased was driving the Lexus when a Honda Accord, driven by an unknown individual, collided with his parked vehicle along the expressway.
The spokesperson elaborated that upon exiting his car to confront the Honda Accord driver about the damage caused, the Lexus owner was met with resistance. Instead of engaging, the driver of the Honda Accord purportedly used his vehicle to strike Sahola before fleeing the scene.
In an attempt to escape, the Honda Accord driver lost control and crashed into an electric pole at Igbo Efon, abandoning the vehicle in the middle of the road before fleeing on foot.
Upon arrival at the scene, police traffic personnel swiftly responded. Sahola was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention but was tragically pronounced dead by attending medical staff.
