“Over the past year, approximately 7,000 Nigerians have fallen victim to kidnapping, with a staggering 700 incidents occurring in just the last three weeks. The pervasive violence and clashes in various parts of the country paint a grim picture, positioning Nigeria among the world’s riskiest places to reside,” Obi lamented.

Citing a report published by the reputable Financial Times on March 12, 2024, Obi highlighted how Nigeria’s kidnapping epidemic signifies a systemic failure within the state. He questioned the feasibility of attracting and retaining both local and foreign investors amidst such insecurity.
