The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has brought charges against two individuals, Sufiyanu Yahaya and Mudassir Idris, in front of Justice Ibrahim Karaye at the Kano State High Court, alleging misappropriation of funds totaling N20,500,000.
Yahaya stands accused of misappropriating N11,500,000, which belonged to a petitioner designated for rice supply, while Idris allegedly mishandled N9,000,000 meant for the purchase of 360 solar panels, also belonging to a petitioner.
According to a statement by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, both defendants pleaded not guilty upon hearing their charges.
Following their pleas, the prosecution counsels, A.H El-Badawi and Sadiq Kurawa, requested a trial date from the court.
Y.A. Dauda, representing Yahaya, filed a bail affidavit on behalf of the defendant, urging the court to grant bail to his client.
Justice Karaye granted bail to Yahaya in the sum of N12,000,000, along with two sureties subject to verification by the EFCC.
